Prime example here is that if JDSU is/was perceived to be such a solid grower then why is the stock price down considerably from it's highs??

I agree with some of your arguments, but not this. It's far more accurate to say the market over-shot on the upside and did the same on the downside. In this instance you're confusing the stock for the company. As you pointed out --- and as SJS's been saying all along --- there's a difference.
