I do, in fact, know Evangelicals who are pro- choice. Moreover, I do not think it is a religious matter, but a matter of fundamental rights and public policy. I myself would like to see the matter returned to the states to be argued out in the legislatures.
Since the impeachment was perfectly Constitutional, I have no idea what you mean. The president may be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, that is, for such things as breaking his oath of office (to faithfully execute the laws) or bringing disgrace upon it. Whether or not he should have been may have been argued, but not the formal propriety of the process. I also disagree with the premise that it was a form of political persecution. I never particularly supported the Independent Counsel statute, but when it was in force, it had to apply even- handedly. The investigation against Clinton was no more zealous than previous investigations, such as Walsh's, and was perhaps more temperate........ |
