Interactive Week reports Alcatel Telecom has begun offering the Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, or ADSL, including
Asynchronous Transfer Mode, or ATM, switching in a full end-to-end system. Officials are quoted saying local telephone systems will be
able to test the service this summer. Alcatel Telecom is apparently the first ADLS manufacturer to come to market in North America with
its own system. Other companies working on ADLS include Ericsson (ERICY), Northern Telecom (NT) and Siemens (SMAWY-BB). More
