"so i'm getting a delta 50x cd-rom drive from staples for $20 (after a $20 mail-in rebate). i bet i'll plug it in and all will be better." all is better. first time i ever swapped out a cd-rom drive. more experience inside the box. <g> not a lot to it, and how nice to have it back! i just need it to load software, but i am listening to santana cd right now. :) mark
