Why not, may I ask?

Ah, the simple difference between a liberal and a libertarian--"why not" vs. "why." The liberal sees a problem and automatically thinks the government should have a program to fix it. The libertarian sees the same problem, determines who, if anyone, should fix it--and is unlikely to tag the government as the fixer of choice. It has nothing to do with whether art, in general or in particular, is of any value. It's about the role of the government and the rights of the taxpayer.
