The liberal sees a problem and automatically thinks the government should have a program to fix it. Respectfully, I do think you're overgeneralizing here. Liberals I know are relatively contemplative, work hard and feel the pain in our wallets when we pay taxes. We don't throw money around willy-nilly, neither do we believe that government programs can "fix" what is not broken. With regard to government grants supporting the arts, this is precisely the kind of thing that I, as a liberal, support. It's a thoughtful way to for us to enrich the human experience.
