Another peptide drug has been recommended for FDA approval by the advisory panel. Caspofungin (Merck) is the first of a new class of antifungal drugs that work by inhibiting growth of the cell wall. It is a semisynthetic cyclic hexapeptide. I'm not sure if it contains any non-natural amino acids (NZYM's niche), but it represents another example of the growing number of emerging peptide drugs.
