The rest of the world is starting to see that DISH has a good box solution. This should not only bring in some much-needed profits, but also help grant economies of scale. I know it's only 100k boxes, but it is incremental, and also probably only the start of things to come. After all, having another platform commit to your architecture is all about long term. I bet this helps DLJ sell them too. Interesting that DTS also chose to stay with the Nagra encryption system that Echo is using when it would be feasible to use the Echo box with the News Datacom encryption. A few more of these defections and Murdoch is going to have serious troubles keeping the News Datacom technology viable. I wonder if Murdoch is going to ask Primestar to use his smartcard...
