re ARBA 12/00 qtr:

good upside to consensus revenues. revenues will probably beat by 10-20% or so unless Ariba just wants to put that much more away for Q1. they could print a bigger upside number to Q4 but there doesn't seem to be much reason to do so given that the market is questioning all tech spening in Q1 and the bigger the number in Q4, the less the % growth in Q1. I expect some good upside as procurement software is hot and Ariba is riding that wave. the numbers at Ariba aren't the issue with the stock at this point. the issue relates to whether procurement is a defendable/strategic position within the enterprise or is it going to flame out over time. the answer to that is open for debate but the current consensus is that it may be a subset of a greater solution and that would be problematic. I am holding my position and look for the stock to have a good bounce at some point.
