Who's more reliable to count things than a beancounter?

Your response, and this Miami Herald hand count business reminds me of an old joke.

Three applicants, a lawyer, an engineer, and an accountant are vying for a senior management job.

The company ceo interviews them, asking only one question: "How much is 1 + 1?"

The lawyer responds, "2."

The engineer responds, "2, unless you're counting in base 2, in which case 1 + 1 equals 10."

The accountant responds, "How much do you want it to be?"

Guess who got the job?

That's how the votes were hand-counted the first time, and I bet that's how they'll be hand-counted by the Miami Herald beancounters.
