Okay, I'll bite. This is essentially a wild guess, based on what little anecdotal evidence I have uncovered.

Ginger is a very small, lightweight, battery-operated vehicle operated by a driver sitting upright and using a simple one-handed control. The technology is based on the same principles as the IBOT: gyroscopes provide positional and momentum data to the CPU, which maintains equilibrium and velocity.

There are two models: Metro and Pro. Metro is for urban commuting and can be used in the bicycle lane. Pro is larger and can carry passengers and cargo.

If my wild guess is close, Kamen has been prudent in maintaining secrecy about the project. Ginger is a huge threat to the gasoline and automobile industries. Big Oil would assassinate him in a heartbeat if they knew what he were up to.
