I read your post numbered 1055 on the Impeach Bush thread... I'm a strong proponent of the death penalty, especially if the perpetrator murdered a police officer... police officers, and all law enforcement officers, risk their life and limb daily to protect and serve our comminuties... I think they deserve a special civil status, and they do under State Statutes when it comes to assaulting a police officer, this applies to fire fighters as well, and they too are protected under State Statute, at least here in Florida... if I were choosing and selecting and had the ability refuse a post to someone who was soft on the death penalty, I too would refuse to select such a person... I'm not a racist but I'm sure that those who would disagree with me would be crying race at me also..... I don't think you can find anyone anywhere that will agree with everyone on all topics, there are individual items which I would also disagree with on Ashcroft, no one is perfect and we're not talking about selecting a pope here, just someone who will enforce the laws...

I'm fed up with judges who have more compassion for the criminals than for the victims and their families... that judge ignored the sentencing guidelines and yielded to his own religious pressures... he was a weak judge and should not have been selected, Ashcroft did the right thing in that situation and I applaud him for that.....

I especially have no tolerance for known convicted cop killers, I congratulate Ashcroft for his decision... I think he'll make a fine Attorney General, thanks for showing me that article.....
