"I can assure you that unlike some of its competitors, Alcatel isn't in a position to issue a warning," Alcatel mobile phone division director Jacques Combet said at a press conference. ZO- The above is from Sept 19, 2000. So what's the latest prognosis on ALA's cellular handset business? Are they going to do 20 million units in 2000 as forecast? As you know, Nokia missed and Motorola came in light last night. Again, I'm not saying ALA will miss but it's hard to believe they are immune to what effects all their competitors.
