If they were endangered I'd get excited- and for endangered exotic cats I would even do something. Good morning, X. If you can stand one more postscript stemming from our discussion of cats... I couldn't get your argument about endangered species out of my mind. I recall in a much earlier post your mentioning in the context of an abortion discussion that humans are not an endangered species. I thought it was a good point and added to my arsenal of choice arguments. I, too, am very concerned about the extinction of species. And also the way the human race is on the verge of turning itself into a pest species much like feral cats, if it hasn't already reached that point. What I found interesting is your dismissal of domestic pets because they are far from endangered as a species. My framework is quite different. I love all animals, but pets get most of my attention because humans created them so they are our responsibility. Unlike wild animals, they are totally dependent on us and we regularly let them down. I am a real bleeding heart when it comes to a pet but I think society is way too soft on the irresponsibility of adult humans, including the irresponsibility of adult humans toward their pets.
