I believe nothing should be treated inhumanely. But we kill animals all the time. We eat animals far more intelligent than cats (pigs) and we treat pigs with such wanton cruelty that I have a hard time feeling anything much for cats- which by and large have it much better than they would if I ran the world. It is my way to prioritize and categorize problems and things- creating hierarchies. I DO think that society is too soft on people who are irresponsible and cruel- but most pet owners are NOT irresponsible and almost ALL slaughterhouses are. Just something for you to think about- because I do not believe you are a vegetarian. And if you wear any leather products, there is that angle also.
