Alberta Health and Wellness selects CGI for CDN$25 million,
five-year outsourcing contract

Montreal, Quebec -- Jan 11, 2001
Alberta's ministry of Health and Wellness and CGI Group Inc.
(TSE: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB) today announced they have signed a letter
of intent for a five-year applications maintenance outsourcing
contract valued at CDN$25 million. A transition project began
January 2 and full responsibility for applications support will
be effective on April 1, 2001.

As part of this contract, CGI will support the Department's
legacy systems, client server applications and Web-based
applications. As the client develops new systems and
applications, CGI will also support and enhance them. CGI will
dedicate over 40 highly trained professionals, many of whom have
over ten years of experience, to this project.

"We need continued stability and high availability in our
application systems," said Susan Watson, director of IT at
Alberta Health and Wellness. "CGI has brought together a strong
team with excellent credentials. They are bringing strong
management approaches, methodologies and support processes which
we expect to result in continued high customer satisfaction.
They will provide us with full access to information which will
enable us to provide these services in the most efficient and
cost effective manner possible. We are looking forward to working
with CGI to help us meet our goal of providing Albertans with
access to the best possible health care system solutions
supported by a stable and secure IT environment."

Mike Roach, CGI's executive vice-president and general manager,
Canada added: "We are very pleased about this contract as it
strengthens CGI's position as a premier supplier of application
maintenance services. CGI's commitment to quality combined with
our expertise in application maintenance processes allows us to
add significant value to Alberta Health and Wellness heading into
a period of substantial system change. We look forward to working
with the Department to assure the quality of delivery and
availability of their critical information systems." Mr Roach
added that this contract demonstrates CGI's commitment to Western
Canada as the company furthers its presence in this important and
growing market.
