Even the current price can't be justified if growth is slowing and sentiment turns bad. Momentum works both ways and I think many people recognize that. Lack of research of the industry has nothing to do with it.

You contradict yourself. "If growth is slowing. . . lack of research of the industry . . ."

If Mr. Cramer spent more time researching, he'd know that growth is not slowing and that companies supplying components and the equipment to develop components are adding manufacturing space at an unprecedented pace. He'd also know that any slowing in capex means carriers are shifting dollars from voice to data and that over-all what they need to spend is less than what they would have spent to add capacity via old technologies.

There's a whole bull market going on away from tech stocks. Ex - Some of my oil & gas stocks are up 100% this year, banks doing very well also, drugs too.

Congratulations. But for an investor who isn't a trader and doesn't want to move money from sector to sector, this isn't germane to our discussion. Cramer has every right to be diverse --- and I admire his ability to understand many sectors. However, he doesn't need to bash optical networking or JDSU in particular in order to justify his other investments. In fact, it's not even smart. Why set yourself up for being wrong if you don't need to? If he keeps quiet and succeeds somewhere else, no one will call him the guy who made a fool of himself by missing the most robust sector in the entire market.

He's no dummy, so I have to think he likes attention. To some, actors and entertainers, for example, even negative attention is better than no attention at all.
