Of course it won't be a replacement. None will, but it and CD-ROM RW will both do quite well thank you very much as partial standards. Things will diverge. Go long if you want to make money.
It will be more than an accessory and less than a standard.
If only you'd leave your socializing out of SI you might have something rational to say once in a while.
