The answer to the question is that no artists should be taxpayer funded, even if the art they produce somehow enhances society. It should not be the role of government to pay for art, especially in light of the fact that the same funds could be used for humanitarian purposes. Personally, I might make an exception for the card playing dogs though. :-)
