Blackmail is such an ugly word. -g- It's just business - whenever a company has to do a workout, the creditor gets concessions in return for taking a chance of not getting paid. Longterm negotiations over cost create price stability. But, as you point out, the risk of long term contracts is that one or the other of the parties to the contract gets screwed.
