Josie knows that public sentiment on this thread ain't going to influence the stock 1 iota. However, I think it was Jake that was lamenting on being badgered by TA that he thinks, ST, the stock is not yet a buy. TA took that as a sign of the "time to go on the bullish offensive again", and proceeded to flood the thread with hearty data on why it's time to buy.
I think you give Josie too much credit, but your other points are well-taken. If shorts like Josie didn't think their posts affected sentiment, they wouldn't bother. After all, their time horizon is minutes to hours, not days, weeks, months. Why pop in on a totally new thread just to pass the time of day? Why not stay on one where you're recognized and casual posts are just that?
I appreciate Jake's negative comments b/c I know he's serious and isn't trying to promote a negative bias. He simply has honest concerns. I believe Stocker is the same. Of course I think they're both misguided, but that's my bias. :)
Incidentally, NUFO has gone up 50% in two days. Now that's a serious move to miss.
