I wouldn't agree that the majority uses and understands these measures. Maybe the majority of pros and traders. A/D, TRIN are no sentiment measuring tools anyway maybe VIX and p/c are.

All I say is, when the mood is bullish and the market goes up BECAUSE market breadth has improved, it must be pros and traders buying. People like on this thread e.g., and aren't we very much in sync with what is happening right now?

On the other hand, if it is so, then this rally is not sustainable. But tomorrows numbers will swallowed easily by the market and the CA problem will never lead to serious power outages anyway.

I think only a wave of bad news other than from the tech earnings corner can take this market lower. I believe the destruction of wealth has done some damage that is not yet visible. It should start to appear in terms of jobless claims, falling RE prices, broad debt problems and bad numbers in branches like classic retail and autos.

But very silent at that front up to now. Slower growth is in the market I think and recession has yet to show some effects besides GDP figures.

To reach your end-jan target for a (lower?) low something real bad has to happen and I cannot see what. The above effects will not be visible yet, money destruction is halted now by stabilizing stock prices.

I have some underwater march poots on ORCL and SAP Vz. and I hope there will be new news till then.
