Right - Nokia has a long history of acquiring mobile operators, so buying Sonera makes a lot of sense. I think this will happen after the Lucent acquisition, but before they snap up E-Toys and rebrand the sock puppet as "Jorma".

I'm sure this messaging system fight is going to be a *huge* issue. Considering how strong Ericsson is in the teen niche market, this will be a battle of titans! I mean; just look at Ericsson's market share in the pre-paid market (which drives the messaging traffic). That 5% sure translates into colossal standardization strength!

It's just as obvious that Nokia desperately needs an Asian partner to "attempt" to maintain its dominance. Kyocera or Mitsubishi would bring a lot to the table - they've shown uncanny skill in extending their appeal from Japan to Europe and North America. Who of us hasn't seen shop windows with prominent "Trium" displays showing absolute operator commitment to an Asian brand in USA and Europe?

I see bright a bright future for Simon in the consultancy business.
