i would certainly agree. however, the party in question actually seems to have INCREASED the short, averaging down. in any case, this is not so much about the degree of merit in this financial punishment saga, but more about the possible consequences of this derivatives near-blow-up.

note that an ENORMOUS notional amount is involved.
