this leads me to another question. to understand where M is at, should you look at the general market, or just an appropriate benchmark? it seems like o'neil advocates looking at the general market indices. BUT in the last few months, the general market has not been so good, while there has been a market for certain utility & defensive stocks. if you would have stayed away from these stocks because of the general market, you would have missed some good profits.
