I'm glad you mentioned this. I was getting around to it myself but you beat me to it. (Things that make me crazy about libertarians.) I consider myself a libertarian with a small l. I'm not a member of the Libertarian Party and I don't think they're ready for prime time yet. I'm convinced that if they ever found themselves in a position to actually govern, they would not implement anything near as extreme as their talk, even if they could get away with it. The realities of governance would come into play. I think they're mostly just providing a counterpoint for the great society run amok.

I would define Liberalism as openness to progress and change. By contrast, conservatism attempts to conserve the traditions and received truths of the past. Liberalism has also been defined as generosity, tolerance, open-mindedness and willingness to give.

If that's the definition of liberal, then I should be the poster girl.
