It's a long way to Tipperary, and even further the Supreme Court. I sure wouldn't want to be on that waiting list. New advances in DNA research are popping people off of death row faster than you could believe. It doesn't do you any good if they find a piece of DNA evidence but your dead.

Texas is infamous for its rather cursory look at the evidence. Only there could you have people sent to death where a single witness (who could have been the real perpetrator, but who told a better story) can be part of putting YOU to death. I don't think that many other states have that low a bar. I don't want killers roaming the streets, but I also don't want the government executing them.
