Albert, re:Derek intels bread and butter is p/mmx now and not pII. k6 and m2 are both mmx
enabled chips that are better and cheaper than p/mmx, are they not? -Albert

problem is that Pentium MMX has the OEM channels in place
for the rest of the year and will be the volume leader,
whereas Price/Performance of K6 is not enough to entice
major players to switch over. AMD still has to prove that
it can produce in volume (millions), with good quality, etc.
and that might not happen until end of this year or early
next year, and by that time, Intel MMX will be the "breadwinners"
for the major OEMs, and may not find it worth it to switch.

On another note, I was thinking of buying some AMD today,
but i didn't like the stock action. I figured with Intel's
trouble meeting demand with MMX, this would give AMD a
green light to sell all the K6 it can make for a while.
Any thoughts? It seems some money might have shifted over
to Cyrix.
