Norilsk is the best thing the Russians have going for them. I am sure they will keep it up and running. The mine is in a sorry state, but I guess the Russians are used to that <g>. The problem with Norilsk like you say is finding reliable reserve numbers. Who knows how much they have left? It is hard to even predict how much they will produce from year to year. And as for the supposed stockpile, well Russia needs some cash. Why would they sit on their palladium? There is probably no Russian stockpile of palladium.

I like the Russians. We have heard about how they are going to dump all this palladium on the market for a few years now. They have provided some uncertainty in palladium- just enough to keep the faint-of-heart away from it. In the meantime, palladium has skyrocketed.
