I think an occasional social science reference will be tolerated on the thread. Its at least as relevant as peanut butter, although as you suggest we had better watch out for the Terms of Abuse. Of course peanut butter is a far more relevant topic to the daily lives of most.

Didn't some fellow named Simon (or something) win a Nobel Prize for his theory of "muddling through?" This reminds me of your Lucas citation. Imagine winning a Nobel prize for stating the obvious. Shows how dumb people can really be. Or maybe how smart to finally figure out how dumb they've been all along!

My only question is when you say "over time subjective expectations have to become more consistent or else...," do you mean consistent with hormones or consistent with reality?
