Call-Net acquiring rest of NorthPoint Canada 03:26 EST Friday, January 12, 2001 Call-Net Enterprises Inc. of Toronto has agreed to purchase NorthPoint Communications Group Inc.'s 50-per-cent interest in NorthPoint Canada Communications, a joint venture of the two companies. Call-Net said it will pay San Francisco-based NorthPoint $5.3-million (U.S.) for the stake, after which the venture will become a unit of Call-Net. The joint venture was created to provide wholesale digital subscriber line-based broadband services to Canadian businesses.
