I still maintain all they have to do is get Brad in there for a weekend, and we would see instant improvements.

It's a nice dream, but I'm sure even Brad wouldn't be able to figure it out at this point, at least not right away.

In defense of the programmers, following Brad must have been a nightmare. Don't get me wrong, I worship Brad as a god <g>. But it is very difficult to pick up code which has been solely written by one person over a period of time, finely tuned and tightly managed by that person, and having (presumably, given that Brad must have needed to sleep sometimes) little documentation as to what it is supposed to do or why it does it the way it does. The fact that the code was written by a genius would only make it more difficult for mere mortals.

It could have been done, but only with proper project management, intelligent milestones, and an absence of politics. I doubt they had any of these luxuries.
