random data point:

i used to jump from techie job to techie job, without a care in the world.

now it is different. with all of the dot.bom layoffs, there is serious competition in the field.

my last computer job offer was for $7.50 an hour.

i used to make between $13 and $25. this is an all-time low.

there is a lot of competition, and much less hiring.

sheesh... i could make $7.50 an hour at McDonald's
