Growth (or no growth) rate has nothing to do with it. All these companies have the same macro economic uncertainties to deal with. CSCO has had the additional complexities of absorbing huge acquisitions and integrating different business cultures and product assimilations. And, all we are talking about is predicting earnings 3 months out relating to one product and about fifty customers (accounting for approximately 80% of revenues and 90 % of profits).

What you are telling me is that management is making something that is relatively simple into something very complex.
