H-P co-founder Bill Hewlett dies at 87 - By Debra McGarry

Hewlett-Packard's former president and co-founder, Bill Hewlett, has died at age 87. Hewlett, one the U.S.'s foremost business leaders and technologists, founded the Palo Alto, Calif. -based company with David Packard in a car garage in 1939, which designated the birthplace of Silicon Valley. An active philanthropist, Hewlett is best remembered for his scientific expertise. He retired from active management at H-P in 1978.
