I hate to break up your personal sitcom which has gone beyond merely boring, but getting back to the topic of this thread:
From AVNX conf call... by: Mr_Ziggy_Stardust (140/M/Andromeda) 1/12/01 9:01 am Msg: 14079 of 14111 WHICH VENDORS USE AVANEX'S PRODUCTS?
1. Avanex in its APRIL analyst conference call said:
"No one else has a PowerMux of any kind, which is why PowerMux is achieving increasing commercial success in the marketplace. And no one else has a PowerShaper of any kind. Not in commercial application and certainly not qualified by any customer we know of.... Most of our customers request or require that we do not issue contract announcements -- because this is a highly competitive space and they prefer not to broadcast their activities, so we honor their requests....Recently, MCI has begun ordering our PowerMux for long-haul application. We think this will become a burgeoning opportunity for us. PowerMux also has attracted attention, and is in various stages of order, from NORTEL, CORNING, SYCAMORE, SIEMENS, QTERA, SUMITOMO, and FUJITSU." . (You can access these conference calls at the link below) . investor.avanex.com . 2. In Avanex's fourth quarter conference call we learn that: . "NORTEL has incorporated PM into their 160-channel product and shipments to SYCAMORE also started last quarter..." . And that, . "PM has just been qualified by SIEMENS and also by FUJITSU for their just announced 176-channel system. Avanex is in the final stages of qualification with LUCENT (for their 360-channel system??) and CISCO/PIRELLI." . So we know that current customers for PowerMux at least include WORLDCOM, NORTEL, FUJITSU and SYCAMORE, and will likely include SIEMENS, LUCENT, and CISCO/PIRELLI. . 3. We have yet to hear about previously mentioned CORNING, QTERA, and SUMITOMO and from customers who have requested confidentiality. A few months ago Charlie Burger had this to say about Avanex's customers: . "Sorry you have been lead to believe that Avanex has a very limited list of customers because exactly the opposite is true. In fact, the complete list (we have seen it), which is confidential due to the request of the companies testing and ordering the product, is quite astounding. Avanex, of course, would gladly shout to the world who these companies are, but they can't if they want any business. . As an interesting side note, at this month's SuperComm I met with many metro startups. When I asked each one how they muxed, the answer I got back was always silence." . 4. As you note in your news analysis, Avanex has starting selling significant volumes of PowerMux in the last quarter (Q12001 ending Sept. 30). PowerMux and PowerShaper approximately doubling from 20% of revenues to 40% of revenues over the previous quarter. . By my calcs, . Q42000 Total revenues $19.3 million PM/PS revenues $3.9 million . Q12001 Total revenues $34.8 million PM/PS revenues $13.9 million . That's 360% growth over the previous quarter. It will be interesting to see what kind of growth these products will sustain in the current quarter (ending this month and on which Avanex will report on January 18th). ----- . Cogent should be added to the above list, too. |
