From what I understand, the adit to CRJ's proposed underground drill platform is substantially complete. The shaft will remain dewatered and the planned drilling from underground will proceed in the future.

The goal of the proposed underground drilling was to define a specific amount of ore to put the existing mill into production.

The focus has changed for the moment. As you may know CRJ has been conducting exploration on the Madsen property for the past several years. There are numerous additional targets including an intersection which might indicate that the #8 zone targeted deep underground may extend all the way to surface--with huge implications.

My understanding is that Placer Dome will initially drill four long wide spaced holes that will cut through the entire structure and greatly increase the understanding of the entire property.

CRJ would have done this themselves at some point in time in the future. The purpose of the long holes is to test the environment for conditions favourable for elephants and to detect elephant trails.

To continue the analogy CRJ's proposed undergound drill program might have only defined the ear or the tail of the elephant, which would be fine for feeding the mill but might have missed the elephant.
