Joe, It appears that Paul has not done his homework!

Q. Can plates be reused or recycled?

A. Reuse of the plates is not possible. However, the number of unchanged repeat jobs in the market for short color runs is very small, and in any case new forms can be imaged in just 6 minutes (at 1,270 dpi). The plates consist to 99% of polyester, topped by a very thin layer of silicone, and are therefore completely harmless to the environment. The manufacturer, "Presstek", takes back used plate material.

Q. Who distributes the plates?

A. The plates were developed by "Presstek", an American company which also owns the patent. Plate rolls for the Quickmaster DI can be ordered in boxes of four rolls each. Ordered rolls are directly delivered by a shipping company within two or three days. Please contact your local Heidelberg agency on the exact terms of delivery. In general it should be kept in mind that the price per plate covers the costs of film, stripping material, and the chemicals otherwise needed for developing in the traditional prepress process.

That one was just too easy!

Neil
