Compaq's Channel Man Vertrees to lead vendor's solution provider charge
By Edward F. Moltzen, CRN New York 5:00 PM EST Fri., Jan. 12, 2001 Solution providers will receive a significant number of new account leads in the near term, says Compaq's new top channel executive for North America.
Dan Vertrees took over last week as Compaq's vice president of North American channel sales and marketing. He replaces Bob Gregerson, who had run the company's North American channel sales and marketing operations. Gregerson left Compaq for an as-yet-undisclosed position at another company, according to Compaq.
Vertrees, a 29-year industry veteran, joined Compaq in 1998 from Digital Equipment when it was acquired by Compaq. He will take over the vendor's North American solution provider channel and small- and midsize-business efforts, as well as its Web sales efforts.
Compaq plans to continue to work with partners to penetrate the small- and midsize-business space and will ramp up its lead-passing efforts, Vertrees says.
"They want leads," he says. |
