DTVRo Selects Sigma’s REALmagic MPEG Decoder - 1/12/2001 Sigma Designs' REALmagic MPEG decoder silicon (EM8400) has been incorporated into DTVRo's latest Set-Top Box (STB) designs, featuring Video-On-Demand (VOD), Video Streaming and DVD playback, all which was shown at the 2001 International CES show in DTVRo's booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Sigma's technology will be incorporated into both the "Personal TV" Set-Top Box and the advanced "Streaming" Set-Top box. The "Personal TV" STB allows consumers to enjoy various services such as Internet web surfing, email, listening to audio CD, watching DVD movies, home shopping, trading stock, and other related capabilities. The more advanced Set-Top Box, the "Streaming STB," is also capable of streaming video from a broadband connection.
"We are excited to work with DTVRo on product designs for interactive television," said Ken Lowe, vice president of marketing, Sigma Designs. "The combination of interactive TV and the Internet provides exciting new opportunities for interactive entertainment and is a unique fit for our MPEG technology spanning streaming video, VOD, and DVD playback." |
