It went up because I and others decided that Thursday was the day of maximum bad news, and the stock just barely went below $3 (in the opening minutes Thursday) and wouldn't stay there. Most of the severely beaten stocks bought when the outlook is gloomy have potential for tremendous returns and I for one decided I wanted in. The merger cushion was gone, the preannouncement was out. What else could you wait for?
