We need to spend more money on education:

Philanthropy magazine notes that Harvard's endowment was recorded in June at $19.2 billion--up 32% from the year before. That's roughly the gross domestic product of Costa Rica, exceeding the annual budgets of 142 countries. Among nonprofits, Harvard lags behind only the Catholic Church and the Gates Foundation. Mr. Rudenstine claimed that the money was necessary to ensure financial aid for the school's neediest applicants. Nonsense. Last year, Harvard earned money at such a clip that it could send through college, tuition-free, all of its undergraduates merely by using two weeks' worth of the interest on its endowment.
