Companies in the EIP Portfolio have been recovering strongly after taking a beating during Q4/2000. Vollitility has been very high for many of these stocks but the overall trend is upwards.

The EIP 'pure plays' suffered the most and are still quite weak, while stocks that also offer BI, DM or search technology have performed much better. The pure plays are the smallest stocks in the portfolio and are not profitable. It is my belief that they will be bought out by the stronger players. IBM, Microsoft or Oracle could also be viewed as possible acquisitors for VIAD, SQSW or PLUM.

Does anyone believe that the pure plays will remain independent and thrive?
