Jon, here is a link to the Franklin PDA I mentioned earlier...

It uses MMC as well for removable storage.
Franklin was the leader in flash memory modules which
were pre-loaded with such things as dictionaries,
bibles, language translators and other reference material.

This is an example of their original memory module for their
"Bookman" device that sells at places like Radioshack...

I think the ideal solution is actually blank media, like
blank MMC or blank CF, an then allowing users to subscribe
to their content library and download from the website. This
is the approach that Microsoft has taken. The logic being
that you don't have to purchase a new module every time you
buy content. The savings would be great and the consumer
ends up winning in the long run.

Now Franklin has to support multiple flash media...
