ahhaha: If you've done that "every tick" analysis of AVNX
trading that you've mentioned having done with other securities, can you enlighten us with it? I am also interested in your view of Nasdaq technicals/sentiment as bearing upon an entry point this year for new money to go into technology leaders, such as I take AVNX to be.

In buying but not holding AVNX I may already have passed several good LT entry points. I make no pretense of being able to time the market, but when to buy and how much is inherently a timing decision even if you hold until you need the money during retirement. I've read you post persuasively about the futility of trading rather than investing, but LT holds are no less affected than ST trades by when you buy.

With Avanex, there recently would have been a huge LT effect from buying on one day of a week rather than another. If you decided you had already made the mistake of not holding a "keeper," what would you look at with AVNX to decide when to buy? Unless I am persuaded otherwise, I think I'll start "legging in" an ultimate position at each succeeding Nasdaq sell-off that takes AVNX's price down for reasons not fundamentally negative for the company.
