Fred- what I started doin a year or so ago, and its worked quite well is ive cut the size of my positions in half in order to set more liberal stops and ride the silly volatility. What ive found is not only does it allow me to set the stops at more reasonable levels, but when the winners run wether its short or long- the profits can be just as great ironically thanks to the volatility :)

ALot of people hate using stops.. I swear by it.. I dont believe the market makers reach down just to take my order (in most cases they cant even see my order depending on what broker im using). but I think the big thing to keep telling yourself with stops is that the idea is NOT to be stopped out and to set your calculated risk to the point where only in worse case scenario will that stop trigger..

hope my babbling helps..
