There is no question that the revolution in the telecommunication technology is taking place. One of the main results from this revolution is the information flow: people can get tremendous amount of information through internet almost instantly. The established media such as news papers and TV's no longer has the monopoly as the information providers. To me it is the positive trend. But it may not be a good thing for the whole society. It is because not every one knows how to utilize the information or in other words, make right decision based on the rich information they can get now. The Iomega investment saga is a perfect example: a sell recommendation from a not well known investment group caused such a turbulant trading. So many people dumped IOMG despite there is so much positive information about the company and its products. Some of them may have secured the profit. But I am sure there are many who took a big loss. Their actions basically made many people richer today and even much richer in the future.

What I think is in order is the study of impact of rich information on the society. For the people who can think independently, information is a blessing. But for the people who are used to relying on the established media, the information is a curse because they can become so confused that they don't even know what to think.

Anyway, just a little thought.
