"To clarify things a bit, Qualcomm does not own CDMA, it owns a specific hardware based implementation of CDMA. This is the IS-95 specification."

The first part of this statement is true. QCOM does not own all CDMA. Their major patent portfolio does not cover all CDMA. Mainly mobile wireless. There are some fixed wireless CDMA systems that may not require QCOM IPR, and some hardwired CDMA that may not require QCOM IPR.

The second part is incorrect. All CDMA mobile wireless is covered, not just IS-95.

A minor point, but important when discussing QCOM IPR and some claims from competitors.
