45bday, I agree with your view. I think that D. Wetherall and crew have come to the realization that profits do matter, and instead of putting their head in the sand and continuing on with the "growth at any cost" philosophy, have been taking the tough steps needed to right the ship. The fact that they are closing unprofitable units and selling off others that don't further their mission are good signs IMO. Not popular moves but ones that are in line with reality and the tough decisions real businesspeople that survive and prosper have to make.

If CMGI had continued on its course and not made these changes I would think that the stock price may have further to fall. However, the fact that many of their companies are growing and quickly approaching profitability makes me think that at this price level, this a great, diversified, low risk way to invest in the continued growth of the internet.

Plus, we need to remember that the majority of a stock's price is influenced by general market conditions, another part is influenced by the sector, and only a small part really pertains to the actual company itself. The nasdaq, internet stocks and CMGI are in a worse-case scenario right now, payback for the parabolic move of the past few years.

JMHO. Looking forward to hearing something solid from the conference call.
