Hi Bill,
After checking individual stocks, the close, Friday, did not look that negative. There are a number of earnings reports this coming week. So surprises and conference calls will effect subsectors. Most analysis expect them to be negative. I think companies will be unsure how this next quarter's sales will end up - slower but how much slower?
Most of the tech stocks I checked were around 7% above their options maximum pain level, a few below by a like amount - options expiration will put some downward pressure on tech prices. IT spending is very questionable. Companies may finally be questioning how much it benefits the bottom line???!!!!
Because of inflows into the tech sector I believe any pullback will be heavily bought. So I don't see a big time sell off in the techs. The old economy stocks which haven't corrected much could get hit. Oils will help support the general indices and the money on the sidelines will continue to enter the market.
IMHO
